My research focuses on two broad areas. The first is international political economy, and particularly the transformation of international finance from the nineteenth century to the present day. The second is the history and theory of international relations, and I am specifically interested in the question of international order in the modern era. My first book — States and the Masters of Capital (Columbia University Press, 2023) — won the International Studies Association’s 2025 Francesco Guicciardini Prize, and my research has appeared in academic journals like International Organization, the Review of International Political Economy, International Politics, and International Theory.
